Gerd specializes on expert opinions regarding accounting issues and how to establish (consolidated) financial statements applying IFRS or German GAAP. He has also significant experience in advisory services regarding corporate or tax-related restructurings (mergers and co-operations) and business acquisitions.
Gerd studied Business Administration at the University of Cologne. He started his professional career in 1982 as auditor and tax advisor in Cologne. He joined Arthur Andersen in 1986 and EY in 2002 and became Partner in 1992. Gerd was significantly involved in setting up the Power & Utilities Group in Central Europe and later in Germany, Switzerland and Austria and was the leader of this Group from 1995 to 2014. Gerd was a Quality and Senior Advisory Partner of clients, mainly of the Energy, Biotech, Real-Estate and Manufacturing industries with regard to IFRS accounting as well as the effects of industry specific issues on IFRS and German GAAP. He was the founder and Chairman of the Global IFRS Power & Utilities Group from 2006 to 2011 and established and led the IFRS Competence Center in Germany Region West from 2002 to 2014. Furthermore, Gerd has been and continues to be a member of several committees and task groups of the German Accounting Profession as well as of industry specific associations.
After leaving EY in 2014, Gerd has worked as an advisor in accounting related matters.
