Renate Müller

Attorney (Germany)
– Leipzig

Renate is a Partner at Andersen in Germany and head of the legal department of the Leipzig office. Qualified as a lawyer and a Lizentiatin der Wirtschaftswissenschaften (Diploma in Business Administration) she looks back on about 20 years of experience in advising on restructuring matters, insolvency and liquidation proceedings as well as NPL and real estate transactions. She started her professional career with Haarmann, Hemmelrath & Partner were she became a partner, before being a founder of Thierhoff Müller & Partner, a multidisciplinary firm, in 2004. In 2018 she and her entire team joined Andersen.

Her practice focuses on corporate and insolvency law related advice to directors, shareholders, members of supervisory boards, creditors and distressed investors, out of court restructurings and formal insolvencies, advising investors and special servicers on banking and real estate related matters in due diligence, the acquisition and work-out of loan portfolios and real estate transactions as well as the enforcement and defence against corporate and insolvency claims in litigation.

Renate has a wealth of experience in advising on restructuring and insolvency matters that have a cross border element.

Building on the precise and comprehensive analysis of the facts she develops – predominantly in a multidisciplinary team – alternative options and determines with her clients bespoke strategies and solutions and actively supports and guides in the implementation.

Together with Michael Thierhoff Renate is the editor of the manual on restructuring (Handbuch “Unternehmenssanierung“), 3rd edition published in 2022 by C.F. Müller Verlag.
