Thorsten Sörup is a German Attorney at Law specialized in information technology and employment law. He advises national and international companies in all matters of information technology (IT), telecommunication and data protection, and acts as External Data Protection Officer. His work comprises the negotiation and drafting of contracts, e.g. software contracts, IT-related out- and insourcing measures, license agreements, general terms and conditions or payment solutions. He also advises on telecommunications and telemedia law as well as on cyber security issues. In the data protection sector, he develops complex data processing concepts, data transfer agreements (national as well as international) and advises on all aspects of data protection related issues. In the area of employment law, Mr. Sörup is focused on the interplay between employment and data protection, e.g., compliance issues and/or internal investigations.

Thorsten Sörup studied law at Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main and started his legal career in 2004 at Willkie Farr & Gallagher. In 2007, he joined Schiedermair in Frankfurt am Main, where he was appointed in 2009 junior partner and in 2013 partner. From 2016 till March 2022, he worked as Partner for Aderhold Rechtsanwaltsgesellschaft mbH. In April 2022, Thorsten Sörup joined Andersen as Partner. He is a lecturer at the Fachhochschule (University of Applied Sciences), Frankfurt am Main, member of the advisory board of the journal for data protection (ZD) and publishes regularly on employment law topics, IT, data protection and telecommunications. He lectures regularly on different data protection and IT topics. Wirtschaftswoche (wiwo) ranked him 2019 as one of „Germany’s most renowned IT-Lawyers” and 2016 as one of “Germany’s Best Lawyers 2016 for Information Technology”
